We’ve put in a lot of hard work to make this subscription newsletter service a reality, and we’d like to share a bit about our journey.
Building the Newsletter Service
Creating this newsletter service involved a number of different technologies and integrations:
- Bootstrap CSS: We used the popular CSS framework, Bootstrap, to design the responsive layout and style for the newsletter subscription form.
- Javascript: We implemented Javascript to handle the user interactions, such as clicking on the navbar, and to improve the overall user experience.
- Mailchimp: To manage our subscribers and send out newsletters, we integrated with the email marketing platform Mailchimp.
- Custom CSS: To ensure everything looked and functioned perfectly, we created custom CSS for our Mailchimp modal and other elements of the site.
Learning Wowchemy and Go
Our site is built using the Wowchemy framework, which is powered by the static site generator, Hugo. While working on this project, we learned a great deal about creating layout/partials, and HTML programming in the Wowchemy language, which is a combination of Go templates and HTML.
We also gained valuable knowledge about service integrations, cookies, debugging, and more.
